Selling a set of alloys on e-bay and got a few interested parties asking me to end early and take a price hit for cash sale now.

But.... one did offer the price I want but asked me to meet him at junction 19 on the M1.

That must be over 600 mile round trip for me and not really worth it unless I was to charge extra.

Is he genuine do you think or just messing about?

There's 6 days to go out of 10 day auction.

Cheers Alex, thought perhaps I'm being too paranoid!

I guess some would find it amusing to make someone take a 6 or 7 hour journey for nowt!

Let it run till the end.

If he's genuine and no one outbids him you have the option to accept his offer.

Unless his feedback is 100% I wouldn't travel that far.
One can imagine driving 300 miles, on arrival - bloke tries to knock your price...etc etc.

Good luck

Can you make him pay in advance before you make the journey? He could just be on a windup, ho ho, it's so much fun to make some poor sod travel 600 miles for nothing - OR, he could clonk you over the head and nick the wheels when you get there.

That's true Mrs TS, good point.

I think I'll let it run and see what happens.

If he wants the goods so badly i would make him come to you or pay using paypal then you can mail to him/her.
Ive just left a message to an ebay seller offering to pick up the goods as the goods are heavy and pay cash(i will pay upfront if he so wishes using paypal) .

I really want these goods for a collection and am willing to travel so i feel if your buyer is serious then he would close a deal now with you on a similar vien.

Hope this gives a view from a buyers side.

The cost of a 600 mile round trip will probably be about the same as posting them, except you will have to pay it - so I would tell him to bugger off on this basis alone.

Agreed - I ebay quite a lot and have had good offers for stuff prior to auctions ending in the past.

Always declined (nicely!) - invariably the auction has gone onto achieve a greater price than they were offering and the purchaser has accepted the terms of the auction regarding delivery.

600 mile round trip? time and money ill-spent!

Seconded! Anyone who wants to do a deal at a motorway junction or services sounds a bit dodgy.

As quoted, if the buyer is that serious about wanting them, make them come to you or pay via paypal if being couriered.
