Hello,

Did the series five Quattroporte have a factory option of tinted windows for rear of the car?

Some QPV editions such as the Sport GT S had heavily tinted rear windows as standard from the factory, so I imagine it may have also available as an option for base models but I don’t know that for sure.

Yes but very expensive, wasn’t a stick on film, was part of the glass. With the frameless doors loads of fun had with warranty declines for aftermarket tints

Interesting can you expand on this?

My rear windscreen developed a crack and insurance came agreed to fix it. The glass supplied was clear but my rear side and rear glass is tinted. It is proving difficult to find out from Maserati what was the original spec of my car. I am 99% positive my car was a factory tint and not aftermarket.

I’ll try !
The factory dark glass is t a stick on or spray on film, the actual laminate film is dark.
It has no wedges you typically see on aftermarket tints and naturally can’t be removed.
Only real way to check is asking a dealer for original spec sheet if car that will show of the option was selected, if so then you out glass people need to refit the correct glass.
Seen this before where they won’t pay for OE glass unless no alternative

I phoned Maserati dealer today. The Service manager was very helpful. Yes my car had factory option Tinted rear glass. He offered his contact details to pass on to National Windscreens.

I was cynical with National Windscreens when they advised me they checked with Maserati and confirmed my rear glass was clear. How can I confirm the spec of my rear glass with one phone call but National Windscreens can not??

Maybe buying a screen from Mas eats their profit margin?

That’s what I said to Maserati Service manager. He said Maserati would take the windscreen back but there would be a hefty handling and shipping charge.
