There's no evidence that workers are bringing in dozens of family members. As the article says some/most/all of the family visas may be for previous arrivals.

That being said I thought there were income requirements in order to be able to sponsor somebody (£29,000 per annum?). Also they're not entitled to any benefits AIUI

The Home Secretary is trying to delay this but facing a great deal of opposition from the rest of her party.

AIUI it takes a minimum of 5 years of continuous employment before they can apply for ILR (so it's not a case of landing at Heathrow and then rocking up at the benefits office)

I agree with extending the 5 year threshold, maybe to 15 years.

It would probably be wise not to put a definitive marker on it.

A "minimum of" would be sensible, but the rest could probably be dependent on other factors being met (earnings etc).

With a local care home charging £2200 per week for bed and board someone is trousering mega-bucks, perhaps there would be no need to sponsor Cameroonians, their meemaws and in-laws if they advertised locally for full-time care workers and paid a decent hourly rate.

I'm guessing 2200 pw must be nursing care. And yes, some do make mega-bucks.

The company I worked for sold for £5.2Bn (yes Billion).
