Hi all

My son has just bought a 118i shadowsport 2019 from an indie dealer , saved up himself 12,5k putting the graft in , which i'm really proud of him after a crappy few years , 2 acl injuries from motocross 2 years recovery 2 major knee ops , had it 3 weeks noticed last night the brakes were squealing when he pulled on drive , i had a quick look and it looks like it needs new discs and pads as all 4 have lips on them and when running your fingers o er the discs they feel lumpy not flat !

Now this has annoyed me as when checking history before we went and looked at it noticed that last mot discs were an advisory 7 months ago , when we done the deal to purchase they put a new mot on it and it came back with no advisorys so i asumed discs and pads had been done , happy days i thought

Clearly they haven't, it seems to me the mot they put on it the garage they use probably every car goes through clean as a whistle!

My lad picked the car up on hes own as i went with him to look over it afew days before and everything was in order , and as they said they would put a new mot and it would go through a 150 point check i just assumed the brakes would have been changed !

we had looked at 4 previously and this was the best 1 now as it has the msport brakes on it and ive had bmws previously with this brake setup i know getting front and rear discs and pads done wont be cheap for a 21 year old !

I thought an mot station would chec advisorys from previous year to see if they were worse or been fixed

Do you think i stand a chance with the indie dealer changing them , or is this 1 i need t take on the chin as i was the responsible adult in charge of making sure he didnt buy a dog !

Also i will be in the dog house with the misses !

Could easily be the difference between two different MOT testers opinions.

A friends ancient shed of a Skoda Fabia has magically lost about half of its shopping list of advisories since last year and he s not addressed any of them.

Have a look at what their 150 point check covers, I'd also pick up the phone to them and explain your concerns to them, if you don't ask you don't get.

I had this with a 630 I bought, its wasn't approved used but it was from a dealer, front discs advisory from 1 year ago, disappeared then when I went for an MOT they were really past the level they needed to be, unfortunately for me they were £850!!!!!
