I’ve had my 500 for around a year and have always changed gear at 5000rpm maximum, i thought I’d read somewhere there’s a rev limiter at around 5500 rpm.
I’ve only just looked in the manual to see max power is at 5600rpm! With an engine with decent torque and a long stroke is there much more to be had by taking it to 5600?

5500 seems about the norm, some will willingly rev a little more but very little point really. Not sure what the limiter kicks in at though.

Thanks, I wanted to check as I don’t want to over rev it but if it’ll go a bit higher why not!

Think you will find max power is @5250 rpm. No rev limiter on my old one that I am aware of, but attached is a power/torque chart that shows no point going over 5500rpm.

Agreed the HP is flattening out soon after 5000rpm anyway, definitely more about the torque with these engines.

I’m looking at doing an ECU upgrade and thought I would need to change the camshaft first, as the cars on 86k miles. Have spoken to power and V8 Dev to consider which cam. Then spoke to Joolz at Kits and Classics about the ECU change. His advice was to see if it still pulled when up towards 6k RPM, if so leave cam well alone.
So I took it to see and I don’t think I need to change my cam.

That’s interesting, mine has the 885 cam which I believe is the same if not very close to the standard 500 cam.
Do you mind me asking what ECU you’re looking at? Mine has the standard 14CUX which I’m thinking about upgrading.
