S/h planet x rt90 purchase

I've recently last Monday purchased a s/h planet x rt90 it's about 10 years old as far as I can tell, rim brakes and SRAM.
I've been using a decathlon grvl120 around Stourbridge,
This one's 8.4kg with some clunky metal pedals, never used cleats...yet
It was £200 and I've only ridden it up.and down my street as it was too warm last week, hopefully getting out in the next few days.
Probably be questions, like how do I change up and down gears etc

If it has SRAM brake/shift levers, there will be a paddle attached to each lever. It's much the same as the Shimano or Mictroshift system on your existing bike but the paddle does both up and down shifts.
Give it a long push (all the way over) to change to a larger sprocket and a short push (just 'til it clicks) to change to a smaller sprocket.
It's a great system that I miss greatly on my current – Shimano equipped – bike.

If you're unsure about anything pop in to see Charlie, Loz and the others at Bache Brothers Cycles on Lye Cross.
Great lads who will teach you the basics and give the bike a tune up too - just make sure you call ahead as they're incredibly busy at the mo.
Road bikes take some getting used to, I'd definitely advise getting used to the shifting / braking etc before adding clipless pedals to the equation.

2nd ride today, 1st was more of a how do these gears work test.
12km 2kph quicker than the gravel bike without going quicker, the gravel bike I could get 25-29 mph the road bike it was about 22mph but I didn't have to stop for my nemesis hill,much better gears and choices , I'm Sure the 4k weight difference helps.
I've used a app to do a basic setup, cycle past the daughter filming and up load it , 1st go everything was ok, seat up 2.3cm so.i adjusted it, next go seat too high by 3cm.......so I went old skool and sat on the bike, the bars need to be raised by a bit, maybe 5-10mm
So far I'm really impressed, didn't think I'd fit a road bike at 58 and unfit
