I was reading a thread that was 2 years old, about the spider conversion for the Griffs. It stated that the 18" spiders were too wide for the rear at 8.5 and definitely wouldn't fit the front.
In the thread it stated that 17" spiders didn't exist, is this still the case, being 2 years down the line? My instinct says it is.
One more question, would a [b]308mm[/b] brake upgrade fit under 16" rims?
I'm looking to revamp my griff but keep getting snookered at the last minute. :D If the 17"s existed it would be perfect.

TSW manafactured a 17" design called the 'Fusion' made in TVR's offset etc a few years ago that have a very similar design to the spiders.
These are like hens teeth to aquire and the only ones I know of that still exist are on my Chimaera and the Griff LE that is currently for sale on Pistonheads and the TVR CC. The wheels on mine were purchased by the ex owner (Mr Freefall) from the 'The TVR Centre' in 2002 (my car is a 1999)
I have tried to trace the origin of these wheels and it seems a bit of a murky issue. I believe from what I have found out that they may be as few as only twenty wheels ever made and all seem to have been supplied by 'The TVR Centre'. The centre badge is a one off size and one of mine was quite badly yellowed. When I tried to locate one the parts guy at 'The TVR Centre' was stunned - he had one that had been sitting on a shelf with no part number for years and they had be confused as to where it came from - he was that chuffed about finding out its history he sent it to me FOC

I remember seeing a Griff on here about 2 years ago with Spiders fitted. The conversion had been done by Peninsula in Exeter. Maybe worth giving them a call for advice. They are very nice chaps down there.

zztop has the 18"s fitted by Peninsula.
They do fit, (cue Jethro voice) 'What happened was..' When the Tamora was introduced it was offered with 16" as standard coupled with an 18" as an option. TVR produced loads of the 16" wheels when most people speccing a new car went for 18". This left TVR with an abundance of 16" rims to get rid of hence the hub/big brake conversion offered for reasonable money.
Most people say that the 18"s don't work for the Griff/Chim (far too harsh) but I know of people that have had good results with the 18 (there's a purple Chim with the plate V8 NUT that has had many a good trackday)
The perfect answer would be to do the hub/brake conversion and possiblry plump for the 17" Raceline as fitted to the Cerb 4.5 as standard.
These wheels are readily available for buttons as most Cerb drivers go for spiders.
Expect to pay as little as £150 for a set with tyres!

Not sure if I like the look of the recelines, no offence to whomever has them BTW. 
Anybody have a pic of them? I've not really taken much notice before.
I've been looking at alloys on the web and haven't seen anything I like, the spiders look good though. Just a shame they don't do 17"s
