P12 OOV - £10,995

The plate was purchased by myself to accompany the the famous McLaren P1 and 720S press cars that wear P1 OOV and P14 OOV as seen on BBC Top Gear, in all the magazines and at Goodwood. (See Top Gear book cover photo).

The plate has never been put on a car or seen in public before.

The registration is held on a V750 retention certificate with the £80 transfer fee already paid, ready to go. Located in Woking, Surrey.

Really like the story behind this one, the P1 OOV/P14 OOV connection makes it a lot more interesting than most. Any joy selling this one?

Not sold yet, still available. It's an interesting link to the McLaren story and would look great on the right car.

Any idea why they have OOV on the press cars?

I've never found a definitive answer to the OOV connection, just people's theories and best guesses.

The P14 was the internal codename for development of the 720s and the P1 internal codename was actually P12 so it fits very nicely (see Wikipedia screenshot). Although, it would suit any McLaren really.

I just wish I could afford the car to put the plate on!

T'internet suggests it might stand for "Out Of Vocabulary", meaning the car is so extreme that words cannot describe it.

Though they also use OOU which doesn't fit the explanation.

That's an interesting concept, I've not heard that one before.

I really like this kind of personalised plate (that have a subtle reference to factory owned cars). Best of luck.

It's because the open doors look like a plovers wings. And the bird on the badge looks like a plover.
