Hadn't seen a thread on the subject yet and thought some may have missed the great news.

I always cringe when they show his old clips and those awful round sunglasses laugh

I liked the fact that as well as today's action, tonight's highlights had a few minutes telling us about the Col du Tourmalet. That was the sort of stuff I liked so much about the ITV4 highlights programmes. There would often be some historical stuff or Chris Boardman talking about something technical. I sometimes used to give the live stuff a miss even if I could see some of it and just watch the highlights programmes instead; I felt I actually got better value for my time from them. The rest day programmes were always really good too.

Having watched the highlights for a couple of weeks now, I can't say I'm impressed at all. There doesn't seem to be anything other than some extracts from the TNT coverage and some light overviews of the next stage / jersey competitions / GC standings. None of the different stuff that ITV4 used to do beyond simply the bike race, and no analysis of the stage or sprint finishes other than a couple of replays with the commentary.

Still watching it, but it's pretty poor IMO.

And before anyone starts, I subcribed to Eurosport and GCN for years, but refuse to pay 5 times as much for TNT sports to get access to a load of content I din't want or ask for in addition to what seems like no better cycling coverage.

I agree. It's OK and I'm glad I can see it. But it's nothing like as good as ITV4 used to be with all of the extra stuff. I often used to watch the ITV4 highlights in preference to the live coverage.
