New buyer waiting to find my model
Discussion
Good morning everyone. Let me introduce myself. I'm Alessandro, writing from Sardinia, Olbia to be precise.
I'm considering buying a McLaren 570. I'd prefer the GT because, in my opinion, it's more elegant. I read the entire forum before writing this post, both the 570S and the 570 GT. Let's start by saying that I've owned a Series 1 Elise for 19 years and then bought a 2005 Aston Martin Vantage about two years ago.
The advantage is a car that I use every day to go from home to work, I rarely make long trips.
I would use the McLaren the same way
I believe that a McLaren GT in storm silver can be more discreet although beautiful and sporty.
I come to the point
I read the whole forum both 570s and 570GT I understood the problems that mclaren is young and especially does everything by hand. I love this craftsmanship. I read about the problems with the key, the door and others plus the possible breakage of the water pipes.
These are problems that are now known in 2026 and can also be repaired by an independent workshop. Here in Sardinia there is no military assistance, in Italy the only one is in Milan for our entire nation.
This forum is very useful because there are your experiences from 2016 onwards.
I would buy it and have it serviced in McLaren to be sure that everything is done in a workmanlike manner.
I ask you if it is actually worth having a mclaren extended warranty. That is, would it have to occur a truly devastating rupture to be?
How many of you have the McLaren warranty?
I believe that doing the McLaren service every year may be enough.
Obviously I am frightened by the reports I see here and online. However, on a forum those who have a solution to ask or a problem rather than those who have no problem write more
I ask you is it worth a mclaren extended warranty?
Or can I live happily but with the well-known not-so-expensive problems already known?
Finally, a mechanic not specialized on McLaren could be able to make a possible repair without going to the official McLaren.?
Thank you

Many of us run without warranty - although that's made easier because we have access to very good specialist Indy's.
I guess you won't have that - but as long as you have access to a competent mechanic, I think I'd still run without warranty if I was you.
I've had 2 x 650s and they are no worse than Porsche / Ferrari / Aston Martins I've owned in the past
