I recently enquired about this Approved used M4 as it ticks the boxes, especially for mileage.

https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/202603311185673...

After asking a few questions (which went unanswered) regarding the service history, I was told the vehicle was sold. It's now reappeared on the AUC website for sale again.
I asked about the warranty, it was a "dealer warranty" and not a BMW one apparently. (I had this said to me before a couple of years ago while looking at one in Colchester)

For an 18k mile vehicle, looking at the MOT history, it doesn't seem to cover itself in glory...

I thought AUC vehicles would maybe have one or two fails for minor stuff, but broken springs after 13K miles?. Are rear springs an issue on the F82's?.

Shop around plenty out there, what's special about that one? BMW warranty should cover most stuff or buy one under 60k miles and add BMW warranty yourself.

BMW may not allow an approved used warranty because it’s modified?

At first glance the steering wheel is not a BMW wheel so makes me wonder what else has been modified? I have the genuine M performance wheel in mine and it doesn’t look like that.

As for rear springs, they can snap of course but are no worse for it than any other car.

The rear springs snapped because its a rusty Scottish car. Avoid!

Dodgy dealer behavior?

They want to sell it to someone who doesn't ask about the service history?

If you buy it, print the advert showing it advertised as "Approved used Bmw"

Then forward it to Bmw UK with a complaint that they're "miss selling"

You can get the full BMW service history for about £6 well worth the money will also show any other work is its been done by a dealer. Also lists all options that were specced on car at manufactured, Agree with above about Scottish car -avoid.

Edit- on ebay

Steering wheel looks like a genuine BMW MP one to me, I had one like that in my 2018 F87 M2 LCI. There were a couple of different options IIRC.

Maybe the RIS wasn't performed on time, that can prevent a car from being Approved Used. Cars like that end up on Sytner Select for example.

No surround view cameras on that one either, and I find them useful in mine, especially the cameras in the front bumper when pulling out of junctions with parked cars for example.

I have the genuine M performance steering wheel in my F82 and it's full Alcantara not half and half like that one, the two M performance wheels were full Alcantara like mine or the more expensive one with the shift lights built in.

The centre trim on the steering wheel in this listing looks like it could be a genuine M performance item though, that was available to buy separately

I wonder whether the RIS was done on time?

Thanks for the informed replies Gents.

It just screams to me that it's not been looked after particularly well at all, and I thought that BMW AUC standards were higher than that.

From what I can gather it was sold, and then returned within the grace period, because when I enquired it had not MOT. Again, it doesn't scream "quality used car".

Shame, my fave colour combo, low mileage but too many red flags to make it an option.

Here's mine. Not as shiny as the M4! I liked the chunky thumb rests.

As it was an M2, the trim is dry carbon rather than lacquered as in the M3.

Silverstone II is a stunning colour.

I’m afraid your incorrect there was 3 M performance wheels, the V1 full round, blue top band, the V2 which is pictured below and is half leather half Alcantara and not fully round, blue band at the top, and the fully round LED display wheel.
