Crit' Air Necessary?
Discussion
It seems that the French government are doing away with the low emision zones but it hasn't happened yet.
Expect you will go via Rouen where it is popssible to travel outside the zone, but drining on the autoroute through Lyons I was glad I had the sticker when due to an accident we had to go onto the city streets.
As you say, the cost is so minimal

You wouldn't need to have one just to drive through. The only time it would be noted is if you are stopped by a policeman, or it's noticed when you are parked up. I do have a sticker since I spend a lot of time in France but if you're just transiting through a zone I wouldn't bother.Expect you will go via Rouen where it is popssible to travel outside the zone, but drining on the autoroute through Lyons I was glad I had the sticker when due to an accident we had to go onto the city streets.

Might be a bit late to get one
If you order online that is enough, you don't need the sticker. Suppose I will splash the cash then. I think it’s a myth that you can avoid speeding tickets by not signing up for crit’air. People do still get tickets. You also need to keep in mind that crit’air lasts the lifetime of the vehicle and people move house, cars change owners etc.
When you use the ferry or the Eurotunnel you put all your vehicle details in there and the border police are from the French Ministry of Interior which is also where speeding tickets from ANTAI come from. That’s how they have your data.
