Since when have 997.2 RS got so expensive?
This is my favourite RS in a fantastic colour but £350k I remember when you could have new or nearly new for £90k
Great car though

I bought a similar spec car new from OPC Mid Sussex for £113k which included a discount, then sold it back them 3 years later (and 6 thou miles) when going through a divorce for shade below £90k….
Looks optimistically priced but they going for $450/550k plus in the states, so i wouldn’t be surprised if it sells for close to asking.

$800K in the US. A few have come up for over £1Mil. - and no, not the 4.0. This is my favourite RS in a fantastic colour but £350k I remember when you could have new or nearly new for £90k

Just seen that one at £350k with the OPC is reserved.
£350K+
£10K to ship to Australia and do all the paperwork to import it.
Sell in Australia for an average of £500K
= infinite money glitch.

kinda depressing to see them that expensive tbh
Where you use to aspire to owning a car like the 997.2RS now they are just totally out of reach, but I do think it was on the cards for pre 991.1 Gt3s as they were built in such low volume compared to 991.1 and post GT products
£200k for a 997.2 GT3 is next…..

"Luxury cars in Australia are defined as those worth more than a certain value in AUD called the Luxury Car Threshold. This is irrespective of make or model. The Australian Tax Office (ATO) sets this threshold annually.
Currently (2024-2025) this is AU$80,567 for ‘Other Vehicles’ and AU$91,387 for ‘Fuel Efficient Vehicles’, inclusive of GST.
If you import any car into Australia that is valued above this threshold, it is subject to a 33% Luxury Car Tax (LCT) on top of GST."
GST (Goods and Services Tax) alone would be in excess of £35,000 ($65,000 AUD) whilst the luxury tax would be £116,000 ($217,000 AUD)
Shipping and the necessary insurance would be another £5,000 minimum.
Australian customs duty would be an additional 5%.
Infinite money glitch ? Infinite rampant t******y (see Smith and Sniff for further details) more like.

I love my 997.2 GT3, and enjoy taking it out for the occasional Sprint/Hillclimb, its value is already a bit of a worry, if they went that far north, i might have an internal conflict about using it as such,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, its a car, albeit an amazing one,,, that loves to be driven. As my late Dad use to say, Enjoy, you cant take it with you

If you got away with buying it a lower level ie less than £100k then I would continue to enjoy as per because it will never be worth less than you paid the way current prices are going and the value of driving it is priceless.I love my 997.2 GT3, and enjoy taking it out for the occasional Sprint/Hillclimb, its value is already a bit of a worry, if they went that far north, i might have an internal conflict about using it as such,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, its a car, albeit an amazing one,,, that loves to be driven.
