If I put bucket seats and harnesses in and remove the back seats. Do I still need the rear seatbelts in to pass the MOT. Or is it a question of no seats, no belts needed??

As a guess, I'd imagine that you have to have a belt for each occupant the car is designed to carry. By removing the back seat you have adapted the car into a 2-seater so 2 belts ought to be fine. I'm sure somebody with more 1st hand knowledge (e.g. Numbnuts) will be along soon...

I took the rear belts out of my 1990 Enduro rally car to save weight. There was no access to the rear seats as the Sparco seats were bolted in place. The rear seats had to be retained to meet the regs, but it passed the MoT with no problem.
Maybe it the front seats still allow access to the rear it could be a different matter. I have to call in at my MoT place later today so I'll ask the question - that is if some more knowledgeable person has not replied before then.
