Hi everyone! I’m a bit of a lurker on here, and my husband (MB140) has mentioned I should do a post about the Corvette C8 I have bought. Given any opportunity to talk about my car, I’m all for it!

I’ve had some nice cars over the years; 350z, 370z, Mustang S550, 996 Turbo as a few examples, however when the C8 was released as RHD in the early 2020’s I was adamant I would have one. Last week I bit the bullet and bought a 2023 C8 Stingray 3LT convertible from Grange Corvette in Solihull (never buy a car from Birmingham eh?!). I’d initially thought about going for a C7 and having it as a second car alongside my XC60, but my heart was with the C8, so I’ve gone all in and sold the Volvo and decided to daily the C8. Mr MB140 thinks I’m f**king nuts, but if I’m buying a beautiful car like that then I’m using it as much as I can.

Anyway, I picked the car up on Thursday, and smashed 200 miles straight away trying to get a feel for how he drives. (Note - this car is definitely a ‘he’, seeing as he’s a stingray the only thing I could name him is Steve Irwin!). My experience with the dealership was ok, i did use Forza Finance for part of the payment (they were superb!), but I had to chase the dealership to get the invoice to them and get that side of things sorted, and also I had seen some small issues with the car which were supposed to be fixed by pickup, however they weren’t and I have to go back again to get this sorted. There were just some little things that took the shine off the purchase, but hopefully they will fix this.

When I owned my S550 Mustang I had to spend a pretty penny on the suspension setup to really get it to hold the road, but this time I chose a car with magride, and it has impressed me so far. Being mid-engined, low and on magride the car fills me with confidence when I’m pushing on, especially on winding roads. We previously had a 987 Cayman S, and that was the same; you really do feel planted.

I’m not a super fast or aggressive driver, I’m a self confessed poser, and this car certainly has the ‘look at me’ aspect.

As a daily drive I will probably get better mpg than some of my previous cars, so far on a long run when cruising at 70(ish!) I can get 33mpg. It is all about smiles per gallon though.

It is a very comfortable GT car, he has the GT2 carbon backed seats which are really nice. The blind spots are crazy but there are plenty of cameras and driver aids for this purpose. It is a pig to park though, and the large doors will make public car parks a challenge.

We are driving to Le Mans in a few weeks time, so that will be a great road test! We will also be visiting Wollaton Hall car show, and also Sywell Aerodrome show in July. We’ll probably try to get to the Motorist Hub at some point too. I’ve been a bit out of touch with car shows for a few years, so it’ll be nice to get back in the scene.

I’m not the best at reviewing cars, so please shout up if you have any questions about the car and I will answer them!

Great job on choosing a decent colour. Lot of car for the money. Targa top as standard?

The coupes have a targa top as standard, this has a hard top convertible. It’s a stunning car, I’m really chuffed with it!

Love it. Thanks for posting. I'm currently in an S550 and always have an eye on the unusual. Enjoy!
