Hi, what are your thoughts of this configuration? https://porsche-code.com/PT2M2TT6

I currently have 812 SF as the fun car and will keep that. 911 is meant to be an everyday car with seats for my two small children. I don’t think I need more performance than the basic Carrera offers; and 19 inch wheels are important for daily comfort.

The paint and interior colours are superb, would be my choice too.
I would consider the neodyme (gold) wheel colour with those other colours.
One I would be looking at purchasing when it came on the market secondhand.

Thanks.
There’s every chance it’ll be back on the used market within 18 months wink

A lovely external colour/interior combination. This will complement your 812 very nicely.

Spec looks great for daily dad duty. Oak Green is stunning but shows dirt quickly. You’ve made the right call on 19-inch wheels for comfort with kids. Front axle lift is a must for UK speed bumps. Skip the £256 Power Steering Plus base steering is already light enough. Consider ditching smoking package if you don’t need it. Basic Carrera is plenty for the road. That spec will hold value better than most.

Totally agree with ditching Power Steering Plus and smokers package (it’s literally a plastic pot with a lid).

However, disagree about front axle lift being essential. I’ve run 718 Cayman T, 718 GT4, 992.1 Carrera T and now 992.2 Carrera T all as dailies for 10k miles pa each. All have 10mm lower than standard sports suspension. Not once have I needed axle lift.

Looks great, I’d ditch the lift (Not needed on a base Carrera), smokers pack and power steering plus. I’d consider adding Bose both for daily use and resale.

I've just ordered one very close to that spec, for similar reasons. We should start a Gentleman's Green Tourer sub-section of the forum.

Thanks all for taking the time to reply.

I mainly wanted to make sure my spec wasn’t missing anything crucial. I’d been told that Adaptive Cruise Control is important for resale in the UK — personally I’ve never found it particularly useful in any of the cars I’ve driven, but I also wouldn’t want to negatively affect resale value, so I’ve added it.

Conversely, I also wanted to check there wasn’t anything unnecessary in the spec. There’s about £23,000 of options on the car, which feels like a lot, but I can’t think of anything obvious to remove.

As for the smoking package: I’m not a smoker, but when I bought a Cayman in 2021 I was advised to include it because it gave you an extra covered storage compartment instead of the standard open cubby. I’ll double-check with the salesperson before placing the order, as perhaps the same logic doesn’t apply to the 911.

Looks like about £18k is options and £5k for road tax.

Agreed. I had the basic sub-Bose Sound Package Plus system in a GT4, and it was very poor. That car was sufficiently noisy that anything better would still have been drowned out; but even so it was as bad as a portable transistor radio.

The other thing I couldn t quite decide on were all the exterior options and packages. Sports Design; painted side skirts; painted mirrors; etc. I m leaning towards not choosing any of those.

Reverse logic for the 911, you need to not have the smoking pack. The daft cupholder gets replaced by a daft smokers' pack in these. Mine came with an open cubby that neatly replaces the daft cupholder in the centre console. Cupholder retained for resale though...

I think your spec looks really good.

If you are truly after resale you need sport crono / Bose and better wheels.

I have a turbo s. The sport crono dial is used every trip as the car is nicer to drive in sport

The reality is you won't get your money back on the extras.

The price is daft for a base car. The base car is underpowered - and yes I have had one which I got brand new. Buy this.

https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/L8REO6

Same list as yours. Save £15k. Get it tomorrow.

New. No miles

You will do money on a base at that price. Even better buy a 992.1 s or gts.

Each to their own of course and you may particularly want a new car ( buy the one above ) but if you are putting that value of extras on it with no sport chrono no nice wheels and no bose you will loose a lot on px.

If the dealer now is selling new at £15k off you would be lucky to get £100k for it px the next day.

The base cab I bought 24 months ago was £111k and I thought that was utterly insane.

As above.

Sports Chrono, wheels and Bose are what most will look for. Sunroof is also high on the list.

Adaptive Cruise is liked, but like you I'm not a fan.

Front lift is very useful if you live in London, elsewhere you really don't need it in a standard 911.

Your spec has £10k+ on Seats, Lift & Headlights:

-The standard fit Matrix LED lights are very good. No need to spend an extra 2.5k

-Sports Seats Plus are the same shape as the 18 Way, just without some of the adjustability and electric everything. The former are my favourite Porsche seats. The electric seats are IMO frustratingly slow to move. They also sit a little higher than the partially powered Sports Seats Plus.

Ditch the Power Steering Plus, it really doesn't need it. In extremis it can be coded back in.
Smoker Pack. Better without in 911.

That Bournemouth car has been specced very well IMO.

Inevitably, whenever the discussion of “What options do I need?” comes up, everyone’s opinions are different so you’ll never get a unified answer.

I personally wouldn’t even consider a 911 in your spec. I don’t like brown interiors, and instantly select bigger wheels and sports exhaust on any new 911 (of which, yours has neither). Does that make me right? Of course not. I just like different things to you. You only need to look at the first reply on this thread to see how we are all different - they loved your spec.

In my experience, choose the options YOU want/like. Don’t think about resale or options retaining value. No options retain any value. As for resale? Dealers will usually ‘advise’ you top add certain options as your car will be “unsalable!” come px time without it. Utter tosh.

I admit, used 911s in blacks, greys, silver with larger wheels probably have a wider reach come resale time than one with more unusual options, as those combinations always remain popular. Doesn’t mean they are worth more, just a little easier to sell.

A. The Carrera at Bournemouth mentioned above is a great shout.

B. Sport Chrono is not a must add option to get the dial under the steering wheel that selects drive modes. The dial is now standard.

Its a very personal thing.

I wouldn t buy a car without the Sport Design kit as there s just way too much black plastic on the 992, at least tick the box for side skirts as there s plastic along there that looks really poor imho.

Sports exhaust absolutely essential imho. Car sounds like a hover without it and the effect is tasteful.

I really enjoy the HD matrix lights, the things they do are mindblowing, but they aren t essential. Bose and Chrono would come first.

I do struggle with a base car specced to this level. The T offers a much more focused proposition and the S all the comforts with a big bump in power. Both can be had off the forecourt for less than your base spec

As per my previous post.

See one in the flesh vs without. So much plastic!!
