Best way to safely keep patio doors open for the dogs?
Discussion
Over the summer when I’m out working I want to leave the patio doors open so these two clowns can get in and out

I am not worried about security really. As your need to go through industrial steel garage doors and get past these two rogues to get into my house.
But I am worried about the doors slamming shut or the wind damaging the doors with a guest.
Anyone have any suggestions?

You can get stays that fit into the frame of French doors. We have a set on ours.

These - https://www.amazon.co.uk/2-Pack-French-Door-Stay-R...
Although we've usually just had heavy duty cabin hooks added to the bottom of the doors.

Cheers that looks like another good solution. https://ebay.us/m/sKvMhm
There was a post about this a while back, I seem to remember someone suggested a U shaped weighted door stop that you slide under the door which looked like a great solution. I'll see if I can find it....
here we go: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
expensive though!!
And looks like you have a step down from your doors which may render this suggestion useless.....

Ours work on friction so that we can open the door to any angle upto 90 degrees and they hold. Its so that we can crack them a few degrees for ventilation as well as have them fully open.
TBH, wind closing that style of patio door seems a very remote possibility. Both my sets are a struggle due to their shear weight, even when they were new.
However, maybe I'm being simplistic, but wouldn't a baton of 2" timber the right length of the full opening and siting in the tack (or against the frame) be a cheap solution?

Difficult to tell from the picture but are they timber doors?
I went with a brass cabin hook to keep the door in the right place. Works well even in the strongest of Aberdeenshire gusts.

What happens if you get a heavy rain storm?
Lvt flooring and a mop when I get home. I have two large working breed dogs. Leaving them locked up inside all day is cruel. Unfortunately my ex wife no longer is willing to come and let them out at lunch. And unfortunately I still need to work to pay the mortgage and the child maintenance. I can’t rehome the dogs as I love them. So I’m just trying to make the best of a terrible situation.
