The Citroën AX is turning 40!

As such, the French Citroën AX club are making an event of it just outside of Nantes in a couple of weeks.

Prior to that I will attempt to drive my 1987 AX TRE all the way there, but I am wondering if there are any must see sights or roads for a motoring enthusiast on the way. Anything between and around points A through C would be of interest.

Unfortunately the Le Mans museum is closed, but I have been before so not the end of the world.

I would be tempted to change your return ferry crossing to St. Malo, which together with neighbouring Dinard is well worth an overnight stay.

Try finding the original d100 route national it's a fantastic road that fits from vaguely Calais all the way down south. It's been bypassed many times but you can find it on old maps and bits of it are still signposted.

This place is superb, and looks like it's bang on your route, south of Rennes: https://www.manoir-automobile.fr/home/

Rennes city is lovely, and I agree with Rob re Dinard & St Malo

How about luncheon (or stay over) at the Hotel de France in Chartre sur le Loir, plenty of Le Mans history and memorabilia.

Looks like this bar is near where you are heading - amazing for sundowners and platters of nibbles:

We stayed there last year. Pretty good, although the restuarant seemed very formal when all we wanted after a long drive was a beer'n bar snack!
I believe it's owned by a British family.

The restaurant is pretty formal, but there's a bar/brasserie on the left of the front doors?

If you've got a spare day, Puy du Fou is well worth a visit.

I always have a look at https://www.les-plus-beaux-villages-de-france.org/... to see if there's a pretty village to stop off and explore. It looks like there's a few on your route.

The evening show is spectacular, well worth watching if you're staying nearby overnight.

Yep, there is, but a lighter menu wasn't available, which was a bit of a shame.

We didn't notice the hidden swimming pool until the next morning, on the way out. But definately a lovely slot for an overnight stay.

If you are back in the area, there is a public beach on the lake in the next village, Marçon. About €3 each to get in, there's a bar/cafe with food etc. Worth a visit. When it's hot it gets very, very busy with people cooling down.
