Wasn’t there a light aircraft that skimmed the roof of a white van that was driving near a private airport yon London way, years ago. Lots of jokes flying around, pun intended, about the van carrying an unstable load. I can’t find anything on Google search. (No one was hurt.)

30 years ago a private jet smashed into a van on the A40 whilst falling short of Northolt airport.

I recall the van insurance co saw an opportunity to get some good PR for free by delivering a brand new replacement van to the driver the next day. No doubt they claimed that back eventually from the plane insurers.

The passenger was Lisa Hogan, as in JC's farm.

Reminds me of the biz jet that ended up on the M27 in the early 90’s. I went through oblivious a few minutes before, but a colleague got caught up in the excitement. He was always running late..

As a Hampshire native, this was a part of Chevrons family lore. My mum got caught up in the traffic jam on the motorway, being on the scene about 5 mins after the crash. As a doctor she walked forward to the site to offer assistance but wasn't needed.

But almost every time we drove past that point on the motorway she would intone "that's where the plane went off the end of the runway". And that's what that spot on the M27 will always be for me - it's what I still think about every time I drive past even though that bit of motorway and its surroundings has changed so much in the intervening years.

Reading the report it seems like a fairly typical case of "bizjet get-there-itis" and some very bad CRM.
