Hi all

The wife has previously had a few Minis, Cooper S, Cooper SD but annoyingly decided to get an Evoque about 3 years ago. Anyway, the day has thankfully come when the Evoque is going, the extended warranty is £120 per month, the service from JLR is woeful and we can't take the risk of running it without a warranty.

She wants to get back into a Mini so we've been and had a look and a drive of some brand new ones this afternoon.

Has anyone got the latest Cooper S and have any opinions on them?

Many thanks

Cooper s convertible yes. It feels very grown up. With some nice features and fairly easy to turn off the some of the safety systems. But drives well and goes very well.

That's what she's after, we drove one yesterday and it seemed to go pretty well, 201 bhp. I think it's the same engine that's in the BMW M135i, albeit with much lower power.

Foolishly I didn't know about the boost function and forgot to try it in gokart mode or whatever it's called now.

These are very appealing. We're shortly going to need a second car and i've been keeping an eye on the new MINI's, in particular one of the Cooper S JCW's, which I think look very smart in either green or blue.

I definitely need to test drive one and see what the fuss is about.

Just to update this, the wife ended up buying the one we test drive, it had well under £2k miles so was much cheaper than a 'brand new' one.

She loves it, it's great fun to drive. Sadly the car wasn't prepped very well, looked like it had been washed by Stevie Wonder so I need to give it a proper going over at the weekend. They also accidentally applied the Guard X stuff, badly, over dirty paint so I'll need to get that off somehow....

Other than that, it's class.

First clean, only a quick one but it's better than the terrible dealer effort when we collected it.

I've been out in it today and it's a hoot!
