1991 Audi Quattro 20V RR
Discussion
Beautiful looking car.
As a previous MB bentley ghost white owner (plus at least seven not turbo quattros') this particularly hits the spot.
2 questions:
What's with the Q plate? How much has this this been modified that it needs a new designation?
The dodgy black tape over the dash is also not a good look. What's it hiding?!

For clarity and to be Sure
This is an "unmodified" genuine Audi Quattro 20 valve RR
It has a genuine original RR interior as came with the car
The year of manufacture was 1991 It was first registered in a UK tax free zone which was unknown to me but was obviously a right hand drive region
The year of first registration in the UK was 1997
I was told that the car was put onto a Q by Swansea because it was not age verified when it was first registered in The UK
Q is for Quattro

Q is for Quattro
A car is given a Q registration (or Q plate) by the DVLA in the UK when its exact age or identity is in doubt, unknown, or cannot be verified. The "Q" signifies that the vehicle's history is not fully known, making it impossible to assign a standard age-related registration plate.
The log book has the date so your explanation of why the car has a Q plate is contradiction

There is no "contradiction" I can only go by what I was told by my vendor however what I do have is the tax discs from 98 and I have tried to locate the original owner without success
The engine number is from a 91 RR as is the interior etc The V5 confirms first UK registration as 1997 which falls in line with the information I was given when purchased

Thank you
The Q is for "Quattro" and I have explained the detail behind this Im not sure what a "red flag" is but if you are referring to the ABS its not to much of a chore to re commission but as stated ABS sensors on this model are always temperamental and will require regular sensor changes and extra calibration This is a very useable "drivers" car and unless your ice racing does not need ABS The brakes stop the car very well in all conditions

“Q is for Quattro” has to be the comment of the year, if not the decade.
I’m sure the DVLA thought when they decided to issue a “Q” plate to every vehicle for which they could not positively establish the age or identity, such as kit cars or substantially modified cars, that they would all be Quattros.

I’m interested in the car, just concerned about ID.
The VIN number is not an Audi Quattro Turbo VIN number so it looks as though the car has lost its ID at some point hence the Q plate.
Is there a VIN number on the bulkhead of the car in the normal place - in the middle at the top at back of engine bay?
Is there an Audi chassis plate around engine bay, should be black rectangular plate.
Is the a white sticker in the boot compartment underneath the parcel shelf.
You say you have ID’d the car’s year from its engine number, the engine number is not on the V5, can you share the engine number?
Is it possible to physically view the car before the end of the auction.
