I've always used Halfords kits when I have had a slow leak, both on R134a and R1234y with mainly success.

It is ususally better to get the usual groupon deal though if available.

This. Always worked fine for me unless something is broken.

^^^^ Wot 'e (they) said.

By the time you have bought eben the cheapest top up kit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/127149364994?_skw=air+c... you can have bought the groupon deal & at least the vacuum the system (vital) first & do a pressure test.

ETA.
Vacuuming residual gas/air out of the system is especially vital if there is no pressure in the system as if moist air gets in there & you then "refrigetare" the system it can cause lots of problems, not to mention the possibility for rust on any non-ally parts.
