I'm in trouble...

I was towing my car yesterday and since I need to return the trailer to storage tomorrow, hadn't bothered to put the cap back on the tow ball.

My wife, wearing an expensive beige coat has brushed against it and is now furious... With me.

Any ideas how this could be removed?

PlentyOfFish

Only joking. I'd think, having a go with strong washing up liquid/water and a sponge would be a good first step. Failing that, IPA (Iso Propyl Alcohol).

Wipe as much off as you can then apply lots of detergent, soak in a bowl of hot soapy water.
I've had some success with blotting paper and leaving the item in the sun to melt the grease.

It might be worth investigating white vinegar.

And possibly somewhere else to sleep.

Before doing what Jo suggests, use WD40 on the grease using a cloth to wipe off as much as possible, then follow Jo's suggestion

As above - wipe off what you can, then WD-40.

I've also used Swarfega & gentle soap (to wash off teh Swarfega).

Nothing but brake cleaner, every time, it's the nearest thing to dry-cleaning fluid, dab with clean rag. I always keep a can under the sink for emergencies.

I'll give that a go. If you never hear from me again, tell the police to look under the patio 😂
