Has anyone been following this story? I can't find a thread about it.

It's quite bizarre and goes roughly like this:

1. A horrible crime appeared to have been committed, a gang rape of a woman outside a church.

2. The police appealed for information but didn't release any details of potential suspects.

3. A lot of comments started appearing on social media, with many references to 'doctors and lawyers,' 'religion of peace', small boats, etc.

4. There was a protest in Epsom, seemingly against the police for not releasing details of the suspects. Missiles were thrown at the police, and arrests were made.

5. It now seems that there was no crime at all. The woman in question sustained a head injury, and it seems she imagined the whole thing.

Bloody hell. I never saw that coming! Imagined it?! The brain does do some mad stuff after an injury. I had a serious car accident and sustained lots of injuries, including a head wound. I spent 3 weeks convinced I had killed 3 children in the accident. I hadn't but no amount of reassurance would convince me otherwise. It was a tough time, loathing myself for something that never happened thankfully. I still remember it like it was yesterday, more than 20 years later.

Yeah, I'm glad they trashed my home town because we all agreed that what the community needed just after learning about a horrific tragedy of a gang rape with the gang apparently still out there was for dheads to trash the place.

I hope they make the arrested pay for the clean-up.

What a very odd story. I wonder how they helped her to remember that this never happened?

That's an horrific story. I know people fail to see stuff happening and the reverse, often, but not always, in stressful circumstances, but that's too awful to consider. A tough time - bit of an understatement. All the best.

So, why did the police go public without - presumably - any medical evidence?

Not uncommon for there to be no medical evidence, so they would likely appeal for witnesses.

You think that would have calmed the rioters?

They will want evidence from any witnesses, or other information, and sitting on it reduces the likelihood of people bothering to come forward. Further, there would be a cordon, probably two, around the scene and forensic teams would have been operating. No chance of keeping it secret. In any case, the first few hours of an investigation into a major crime are the most important. Read up on the Russell Bishop att. murder of a young girl. The response of the SIO saved critical evidence which, without it, the case would have gone nowhere. Tick tock haunts major incident inquiries.

They'd have been criticised if they had sat on it.

It a no win situation for the police.

It would appear that now that is has transpired that nothing actually happened there are still people who are so desperate to rally against certain ethnic groups that they basically wish it had happened so they have the grounds for their protest. We live in a strange world at times and these sorts of things are a wet dream for conspiracy theorists.

The same thing can be seen repeatedly here in NP&E threads. Some people are drooling for crimes to have been carried out by foreigners.

It's really depressing.

Because every local Facebook group will have been full of people claiming that this happened and that it was definitely doctors and engineers.

Last year there was something similar in my local park where the police had been called in the early hours after someone reported a woman screaming for help.

They closed off part of it overnight and it was covered in the local papers as a possible rape. The claims from people were getting more lurid, despite no evidence and it took a couple of days for the police to locate the woman involved. She confirmed she’d been arguing with her partner but there was no assault, but some people still think it’s a cover up.

1. There's probably a label and a help group on Facebook for retards who feel the need to make serious false accusations. So that's good.
2. The streets are re-opened and confirmed safe for all Women to traverse. Hurrah.
3. Lefty types will get on their moral high horses taking this case in complete isolation as per.
4. Righty types will fire back at the Lefty types with links detailing today's shenanigans from our new mollycoddled friends.

Etc etc.

While there was no thread originally it was covered in the Southport thread. Worth checking. Lots of conspiracy theorists.

It's in a thread on PH that basically rounds up all serious crimes carried out by immigrants. To be fair, that thread does have a similar really horrible story at the moment that was sadly real.

I think the most depressing thing about this is that it was totally believable it may have happened. There's been enough cases whereby those alleged persons have acted in exactly this manner that nobody even thought to question if it was true, or even was able to say "they're good people, they don't do things like that".

If thats not a thought to make you pause and consider the situation, I don't know what it'll take before you do.

It is difficult to think why assumptions are made about the ethnicity of gang rape perpetrators. Oh wait...

Though that thread ignores stories like this one yesterday.
