We are going to Cornwall for the May half term 23rd to 30th May

Staying in Newquay in an Air BnB

Family of 3, with a 9 year old girl

Taking the mountain bikes and plan on doing a little cycling
Really want to try surfing and kayaking
Eden project, St Ives & Lands End are on the itinerary

Any other recommendations?

I liked Tintagel the couple of times I've been, though it may have got busier and more commercial.
Lanhydrock is spectacular (and guarantees you be attacked by wasps but that's another matter).
I found Portcurno interesting too.

Camel creek

Go early in your trip and you can go back if you buy the pass.

I was going to suggest Lanhydrock as it has some dedicated cycling trails if you want some entry level (blue) grade MTBing.

There's also the Camel Trail between from Padstow to Bodmin (through Wadebridge) and finishing at Wenford Bridge. Traffic free outside the towns so a very pleasant spin.

If one suggest going to lanhydrock to cycle when based in Newquay may as well just go and do some mineral tramways down my neck of woods far more interesting. Camel trail is hell in any holidays!

Wife and I have family in Cornwall so we have been going to Falmouth twice a year since the late 1970s. We know central and west Cornwall well. We are going again tomorrow.

If you go to St. Ives for a day, don't drive into St. Ives and try to park. Instead use the Park and Ride (train). It runs from St. Erth station, a lovely short coastal train trip. Easy walk in to St.Ives once there.

See here for details.

Or just drive straight down treganna like all the other moronic Emmet's pleading ignorance.

I wont clog up the reply quoting everyone but thanks!

Got a few new ideas and the train into St. Ives sounds much better than driving in!

OP, if you're staying in Newquay then pop over to little bakery in St. Agnes town centre for a pasty as they are astonishingly good lick

Maybe look into a day on the Scilly Isles, crossing on the MV Scillonian. We were planning to back in 2024 but were scuppered with mechanical issues on the car which meant two days garage time.
