GT3 SC - thoughts and anyone ordering?

Now the GT3 decapitation has been confirmed as real, I wondered what the interest levels are and whether anyone on here is trying to get an allocation?

Price wise, while £200K is a huge chunk of money they don’t look quite such bad value against say a GT3 touring once the Mag wheels, PCCB, Bose, interior carbon and various ST bits are taken into account.

If you are not buying a Winged .2 GT3 for track... and you want a primarily road biased GT3.... I personally think the S/C is the one to have over a .2 GT3 Touring as it is quite a good value package as you've mentioned,

S/T Cf Front Wings
S/T 3RS Cf Doors
Mags as standard
PCCB as standard

Of course... for some people - Manual only is a deal breaker - and there are those that just prefer a fixed roof or couple and would't ever been seen dead in a droptop - BUT that is a lot of extra kit in the base car configuration - essentially leichtbau package & and the S/T CFRP bits aren't even configurable on a Tin Top GT3. Open top just allows another dimension - so all that combined is easily worth the 40K delta on base car prices - IMO.

I will say that the Street Style Package is a JOKE IMO...

Overall it is still a little 'jarring' that GT3 used to mean track capable road car ... and now Porsche have been release by releasing, changing the definition of what a car from the 'GT department' really means... but the writing has been on the wall for a long time, and the end of the day, their record speaks for itself - they have't made a bad car yet... they don't miss.

I sent my config to my local OPC for one yesterday.

Green, silver wheels, tan interior etc £225k

I am not expecting a reply.

I do worry about the ride quality in a convertible, it's a slightly more relaxed scenario so with no adjustment to the tin tops suspension I don't know how acceptable the ride would be whilst you are smelling the roses.

I think it means there’s more chance of me getting a Touring, so that’s a good thing 👍

I struggle with the idea that the difference in the stiffness of bodyshell/chassis won’t show up on UK roads. I know AP/Harris said it’s imperceptible but AP is a salesman (eg PDK is better than manual) and I don’t previously remember Harris saying how incredible the
handling of a 992 Cab was 🤔

They both say what porsche want to hear,lost count of how many times Mr P has said the best 911 ever.
I quite like it bar the cheesy interior on the launch model,great news its a manual

I'm not in the market for one, it's a lot of cash but as you say you do get more than just a chopped up GT3 touring.

Personally I don't like the rear of any 911 convertible, a lot of the angles it just looks too big an bulbous, is there a Targa version coming also... I assume so, that would make more sense.

Obviously if money is no object I can see them selling a lot, not limited either so they'll continue to build as many as they can sell, but I'd rather have a Spyder RS and save myself a lot of cash.

I configured one up and sent to a couple of OPC's today, got quite a quick call back from one, explaining they had only been allocated 2 so far for 2026, but were open about numbers not being limited and that "Porsche might just be being Porsche by limiting it to two and assessing demand before allocating more". They have all my details, so will see. I have several porsches currently - 992 Turbo S Cab, Spyder RS and Cayman GTS - but all bought from different dealers, and no real buying history from any one dealer. If I do get offered a GT3 S/C though, I will take it, could well be my perfect porsche road car.

Not really, the question is effectively 'what if you want a GT3 Cabriolet with PDK', to which his answer is 'buy a GTS'.

It's not a comment about hard-top GT3s.

I specced a GTS cab for fun when this was launched to compare price for comparable spec (as much as was possible) - 241k Euros - car prices have gone mental

Except, of course, when the 991.1 GT3 came out his disdain for manual wasn’t implied, it was explicit. He told us that PDK was more involving to drive.

He’s responsible for some incredible cars, there’s absolutely no doubting his achievements. But when he is talking in an official capacity on the record (ie everything you’ll ever read about), it’s marketing.

Did he actually say ‘more involving’ - wasn’t it something like ‘just as involving’ or ‘nearly as involving’?
