This will be the first year with the new biometric system that started on 10th April.

It seems like there is a large area they force all cars through to have biometrics taken or checked depending on if you have had it done already.

I expect there will be teething troubles at first but I would be curious to understand the impact to boarding times.

I just asked my friend who has been through yesterday and they did not do EES. Googling, implementation seems to be delayed on the tunnel although I cannot find the new start date.

Expect it will be all over news with M2O problems when Folkestone or Dover EES goes fully live.

Dover especially, think they put seals on coaches after fingerprints etc so not sure what will happen to cars after they’ve gone to western docks (where filled in an entire dock) and are then heading back through town to ferries?

Happy with not using the Dover ferries and to have booked priority boarding/exit to see what EES (if it’s functioning then) is like on French soil for LM.

They suspended checks at the Dover ferry port. I hope the crossings can cope for Le Mans.

Those are not the biometric checks. The ones at the tunnel are still not in use.

The French have been creating some kind of digital record for a while and they have stopped stamping passports. It’s likely they suspended the digital part at Dover.

There's 2 chances when the French will decide to start the full biometrics, Le Mans week or the first week of the summer holidays

When are the checks starting at the tunnel?

It’s not a proper answer, but it’s once the French are ready to accept the data. They’ve been creating some digital records, but their automated system is not ready to receive the biometrics.

Was quiet at Dover going out to Spa race . No biometrics, everyone stopped with no movement and held up for 40 mins while French computers down and when eventually got there they spent 2 to 3 minutes writing loads of stuff down from passport in front me as had to get out of car for passenger side booth.

Passport stamped out as last year but no stamp back in at Calais this time?

Don’t think they’ve done car biometrics at Dover, visiting both docks would be fun!

Assume no biometrics at Diepoe or Caen yet?

Exact same experience here going to Spa, though I didn't make the return leg. Either their computers fall over a lot or we were in the same line / crossing.
