The scale of things... In Human terms.
Discussion
A spider has walked the entire length of the kitchen... Which got me thinking about the distance in human terms.
I worked out that 'Spyder' has walked the equivalent of 100m.. it's on the way back now.
For comparison: Length / Height.
Adult: 2m
T-Rex: 12m (L) & 4m to the hip... about the height of a double decker bus.
Blue Whale: 30m
Titanic: 269m
The Shard: 310m
Eiffel Tower: 330m
One World Trade Center: 541m

There was an excellent two- part documentary with prof Jim Al-Khalilli on this, with the first part focusing on small things and the second on the big stuff.
Ants:In Human terms, carrying fifty times your body weight above your head whilst running at 83KPH (53MPH).

If I was a flea I could jump over a 700-800 ft tall building (the viewing platform of the shard is 801ft) and jump the length of a football field.
That seems a bit odd - a football pitch is only ~320ft long. So why could a flea only jump half as far as it can jump high?
If it just changed its takeoff angle a bit, having the power to jump that high it must be able to jump further horizontally.

The claim that all humans will have swallowed several spiders in their lifetime has occasionally kept me awake at night.
Or spiders enter your ear canal or nasal passages.
