I hope everyone is enjoying the Easter break.

My pure driver’s bucket seat is creaking from around the two harness holes. I’ve tried some silicon spray on the joints, tightened the bolts up and stuffed some felt tape in between the seat cover and plastic but the creaking persists.

It’s either the plastic trim or the cushion rubbing on the fibre glass shell.

I believe the dealers strip the seat and lubricate but as I’m out of warranty I was wondering if anyone else has managed to cure the creaking themselves?

My bucket seat seemed to be creaking from the same area, turns out one of my rear bolts was coming loose and whenever it was loose the seat would creak.

Another area to watch for is the leather squeaking against the shell of the seat where it tucks in around the back of the seat, lubricant helps there.

Thanks, I’ll recheck the bolts. There doesn’t seem to be any creaking from the leather when I tried moving it but I’ll try to lubricate just in case

So after much trial and error attempting to solve my seat creak, I have narrowed the source down to the base cushion where it meets the backrest in one of the corners. The harness holes were a red herring for me.

If I press on the cushion in this area it makes a loud creaking noise which I can hear over every road imperfection or when cornering. I think it’s the alcantara rubbing on something inside the seat such as the shell our the upholstery mounting points.

I can’t see a way to fix it without removing the seat cover.

Has anyone ever done this or is it a trip to the dealer to ask them to strip the cover off and try lubricating and reinstalling?!

I could try a local car upholstery place but I tried removing the harness trims and these don’t seem to want to release after undoing the bolts and I’m worried they’ll get damaged.

The creaking is driving me mad. I might resort to a new seat!!

So after manipulating the alcantara seat cover where the backrest and base cushion meet I have significantly reduced the creaking. I think the cover had moved and was rubbing against something or itself. It’s amazing how loud the material can creak.

Hopefully this is the last of my dull posts on this topic!
