McSweeney says his phone was stolen
Discussion
Just after Mandleson was sacked, Mc Sweeny reported his phone was stolen to the Police, but gave wrong address of theft and didn't tell Police of his position in the Government. Seems a bit convenient?

Also noting that the Police tried twice the following day to call his number, but no answer on his Gov supplied phone.
For once the Police got in first with revealing this news without waiting for the Gov to throw them under a bus.
Although Mandleson gave up his Moby to Plod, he probably had a second one for dodgy calls.. say from MacSweeney for example.

Gave the wrong address so cctv wouldn't show a non theft happening.
Nothing surprises me about anyone around Westminster.
The mistake in the address is not suspicious. I've lived off the same road for 9 years and I can never remember if it's Xxx Street, or Avenue or Road or Crescent. If I'd just been mugged I'd be even more likely to mix it up.Nothing surprises me about anyone around Westminster.

Give over.If you've had genuinely been robbed and more importantly want it solved, you give the correct details to enable the police to do their job.

Certainly convenient isn't it.
When I first heard of this I misunderstood and thought the dates preceded the sacking and all the fallout.
You probably heard Steve Reed say on the Sunday press round that the phone was stolen months before Mandelsons sacking and actually believed that a Labour minister was capable of telling the truth. When I first heard of this I misunderstood and thought the dates preceded the sacking and all the fallout.
