Muslim fasting for Ramadan admitted to falling asleep at the wheel.
Thank God the wife and I were driving an A6 built like a tank that protected us, all I got was burns to the hand as the airbag exploded.
Interesting to note the force of the passenger airbag shattered the windscreen.
Had just cleaned the car and filled with fuel as well!

Glad to hear you're both OK overall, and shame about the car...
I am a Muslim who fasts each Ramadan too. I'd say it's probably not the 'fasting' itself which caused the Avensis driver to be tired, it's more likely the late night Mosque prayer and very early morning get-up which caused his tiredness. Either, way, it's unacceptable to be driving if you're that tired, for whatever the reason, especially if it can be avoided.
I sincerely hope he counts his blessings that he's not seriously injured yourself or anyone else. I hope you gave him a good hard slap accross the face to 'waken' him up! I know I would have done!

I remember the above case being in the national press at the time, it was quite a serious crash. Being fit to drive before you get behind the wheel should be given consideration of the highest order.

You should be able to drain the fuel from the car. I've done it in the past for similar situations as you (normally a friend/relative of a friend).Thank God the wife and I were driving an A6 built like a tank that protected us, all I got was burns to the hand as the airbag exploded.

normally just disconnect the fuel line and run the fuel pump with a piece of wire into jerry cans.

Don't know what the thread title was originally, but yes, if you're fasting (for whatever reason), or otherwise highly restricting your calorie intake, you need to keep an eye on what it does to your energy levels and concentration etc.
Ramadan I think is notable in that you wont even be drinking water during the day, so it may have more impact than fasts which only restrict food.

I have a couple of friends who are currently fasting and like you say, one of the parts they say is tough is the timing of prayers and how tiring that is, not specifically the fasting (although not easy either I'm sure). OP, glad you're in one piece.
