Hi Everyone, new member and new purchase of the AMR. Think it is a fabulous looking and sounding car and incredible power from the V12. Had a few teething problems with bits needing repairing by dealer under warranty, but hopefully sorted and can get on with enjoying the car. The brakes have a sqeal on breaking with light peddle pressure, wondering if anyone else has had this issue and can offer advice on how to get rid of noise?

Congratulations on your purchase. Carbon ceramic disc brakes do squeal.

They all do that sir.

The OEM pads with steel brakes have a special tendency for this - it’s not just your carbon brakes.

I've not experienced it on my AM6 Vantage, but due to the silly cost of the steel OEM pads have gone with Porterfield R4-S pads for replacements.

I assume you have fewer options, other than to smile at passers by when driving through town in traffic.

I don't know if the "Italian tune-up" that works on the Vantage steel brakes also works on CCM's

Ceramic brakes have never been an option on any version of the DB11.

If the brakes have not been used very hard they glaze over and squeal a bit. You just have to bed them in properly from time to time. If you drive it for thousands of miles with only light use you may have to perform the procedure more often.

All the performance pad manufacturers have their own guides. The dealer may do it when fitting new discs/pads so that you dont return back shortly after complaining of squeaky brakes. e.g.

Correct.

Steels only.

The brakes on my 11AMR start being noisy after a week or so if I haven’t done any spirited driving, the easy way to resolve is 3 or 4 hard braking manoeuvres and the noise is gone. If it persists the pads might need cleaning up but shouldn’t be necessary.

Thanks for input and help guys, the discs are steel, I have given them a good washdown with water this morning in case there is a build up of dust. I will let you know if it stops or I find a fix.

What they probably need as well is a good work-out. Stand it on its nose a few times from 70, with the antilock scrabbling for grip. Works every time on the rare occasions my V8V starts squealing.

Lots of options to try here. If the manic braking solution does not work, you can try some, or all of the following.
Anti-squeal paste on the back of the pads.
De-glaze the pad and disc braking surface with some coarse abrasive paper.
Chamfer the leading and trailing edge of the pads.
If all this fails, then earplugs, turn up the radio, sports exhaust or a different compound pad.
