Anyone have a good recommendation for someone who can repair a late 70s megaquartz? It keeps good time (although needs a battery) but the hour hand fouls the date complication - I think a clumsy battery replacement has distorted the position of the hour hand somehow.

It’s also likely the gear that drives the hour hand will be damaged because it’ll have been driving against the resistance of the date bulge.

I’m based in the Cotswolds so local to there would be ideal.

Do you mean an Omega Megaquartz? As in a 1500 series movement?

If so you're going to struggle. I believe the official status quo is "no more parts are available". This means that many watch makers aren't touching these, even for a service. Should they damage a part, it could be impossible to find a replacement. They don't want to take in a working watch and hand back something broken with no chance of repairing it.

That said, here are a list of repairers who are known for their work on obscure old electrical and electronic watches:
* watches of Croydon,
* Paul at electric watches,
* Andy at the vintage Japanese watch company,
* Chris Radeck at the time guy (USA),
* Jarrett Harkness at unwindintime (USA),
* Electric Avenue (USA).

I don't know if any of these guys will help you. But this is where I'd start. And if they say "no" ask if they know anyone who can help.

EDIT: Stress the fact that all you need is someone to straighten out the minute hand.
