The wife quite fancies a Discovery Sport - very poor roads where we live, bit of off-road usability and regular flooding etc leads us here.
What are peoples experience? The engine list appears to be either MHEV 2.0 diesel or 1.5 PHEV - any particular issues to be mindful of with either of these?
Any knowledge or user experience that can be shared will be gratefully received!

I bought my first Discovery Sport new in 2017. Base model, 4WD 150bhp Ingenium diesel with a manual gearbox. Had it for 5 years with no problems to speak of. Replaced it in 2022 with a 200bhp MHEV automatic version and have had quite a few of the well covered on PH problems that the Disovery Sport is well known for;
Auxiliary belt and tensioner replaced 3 times,
Turbo replaced,
Drivers door module replaced (couldn’t open the door from inside or out),
Rear light cluster replaced (condensation),
DC-DC Converter gave up the ghost 2 weeks ago and I’m driving a courtesy car until the back ordered parts arrive (there are literally hundreds of MHEV’s in dealers and storage yards all over the country waiting for the same part. A recall is apparently pending).
You don’t say whether you’re looking at new or second hand, petrol or diesel but there is plenty of information on here in regards to each. I have no experience with the petrol PHEV version but a LandRover Assist recovery mechanic who came out to me said he had been out to quite a few recently.
I think they are fantastically capable cars and really comfortable to drive locally or over long distances, they take kids, dogs and luggage with ease and return an average of 40+ mpg.
If you decide to get one, I’d advise you to get a JLR warranty with it for peace of mind and pocket.

Thank you for the reply - bloody typical to read though…..just my luck! I have an L322 so have my fair share of horror stories/bills to make a Ferrari owner wince so am fairly well prepared.
We are looking for second hand, around the 2022/3/4 mark. PHEV makes sense as will be used mainly for the school/nursery run etc but completely unaware of issues whether petrol or diesel related and thought diesel would be more reliable as the PHEV engine is relatively new tech. I may be wrong……
If anybody else has their war/fairytale story to share I would be most glad to read!
