I guess he'd need to be an MP but that could be easily arranged.

Would he garner much support among those who decide and is it something he's expressed any interest in?

Just musing.

The track record for recruiting ex-London mayors to PM currently stands at one ex-mayor, one disastrous useless tt. Not sure we should repeat the experiment.

Not at the moment no, He's not an MP and like Burnham would be seen as a threat by those who already are and covet the job so getting a seat might prove difficult

There is no list where Sadiq Khan > Andy Burnham, unless it's being a smug tw*t.

Burnham is definitely ahead of him in the queue. In the short term, there’s no way he’d be able to be nominated for a seat as per Burnham in Gorton, longer term, he probably could do what Johnson did and attempt to stand at the 2029 election, then get into cabinet, then have a tilt at the leadership, but why bother? He seems to have a job for life at City Hall and he’d be knocking on for 59 before even getting a sniff of parliament. For comparison, Starmer was 52 when elected and Johnson was 50. In short, I doubt either of Burnham or Khan will ever make PM, but if I had to pick one, it would be Burnham.

Couldn't they just forget DEI and hire a woman who was actually quite good at the job which the Tories did one and a half times.

I think Yvette Cooper is underpriced. She hasn't been playing games like Streeting and Rayner, is generally well respected, has been / is in a great office of state, and is a woman and not from North London.

They should probably leave starmer in there, the economy is cooked at the rate they are spending and the Labour party is gagging to get someone even more left wing in to piss more money up the wall. With government spending at around 45% of GDP and tax receipts at 35% (39% if you factor in other income) then it is very quickly going to bite them on the arse.

Might as well keep him there and let him carry the can.

the ones within the PLP frothing to get rid of him are the more left loons who think he should be dragging them further left (towards the 15% now voting green)

whereas they should be putting someone like Al Carns in charge. I reckon loads of reform and tory voters would back him, ex SBS, straight talking, hardman etc.

I think he would repel far more people than he would attract, especially outside London.
