2020 M2 Competition - worth getting a BMW warranty?

Guys, I need some advice as I'm planning to buy a used M2 comp (auto), and would like to get a BMW insured warranty. However the cost would be about £170 a month fully comp.
So is it worth it? I'd appreciate advice on what could potentially go wrong that would be an expensive fix or repair?

You'd need to be pretty unlucky for it to be worth it at that price as it seems very high.
I was quoted 800 a year from BMW on my M5 a couple of years back and it's a lot more likely to go wrong than an M2...
On S55, turbo oil seals go - Can be refurbed for £1600ish
Rear diff bushes - £300
Camshaft alignment - £500
Prices are from BMW Specialists and what I've seen on the M4 Facebook group (same engine).
You could encounter the 2 most expensive common issues in a year and still be better off.
Generally reliable cars if you leave them standard.

There's still quite a few of these cars for sale as approved used on the BMW website and I'd suggest that's the way to go.
You get 1 years comprehensive warranty and roadside assistance as standard and at the end of the year it's a lot less than £170 per month to extend it (assuming it doesn't go over 60k miles).
I pay £84 per month for my F10 M5, that's for the comprehensive warranty with roadside assistance and a £250 excess.

I had an OG for 3.5yrs and apart from a failed alternator (rare) it was super reliable. Buy a good one and I think you would be OK with a comp, that does seem very high for a warranty (I paid just over £700 for a 1yr warranty with Porsche last year).
As already mentioned try BMW approved but its also worth speaking to Aaron Reeve. He gets some lovely comps in for sale and has a brilliant reputation.

I m in a similar situation at the moment.
I ve agreed to purchase a M2 comp 2020 from a dealer. Who offer a 3 year full comprehensive warranty for £1599. Rang up BMW the other day who said the car is under their comp warranty until June 2026 and renewals open in March.
Asked them about a quote to renew but said they can t give me one as the price is going to increase, couldn t even tell me what it costs at the moment ? so I m in a bit of a predicament about taking the dealer warranty, but would like to have an idea about what it would cost with BMW
Understand in the event where the warranty was used to repair an issue, bmw repair is preferred but not sure if it would be worth the extra £££

A 3 year warranty for £1600 is very good value I think. Go for it!

It depends what it covers and more crucially what it excludes or what the claim limit is.The only warranty worth it IMO is the official one which is very expensive if re-instated like here or just about palatable if continuous at around £800-£1200 depending on excess option as someone highlighted.
Even at this money I used to have it on the OG but not anymore, happy to take the risk as I had the diff seals done and that's it.
OP, any particular reason for going for a Comp? The OG is a very good car in its own right too with some + and - points compared to it. The problem being that Comp reviews were very misleading to the point of inventing chassis upgrades that didn't exist.

If you by from a BMW dealer you should get a warranty... I have a two-year on mine, and have not needed it after a year of driving. I don't plan to renew.So is it worth it? I'd appreciate advice on what could potentially go wrong that would be an expensive fix or repair?

These cars are pretty good on reliability. I recall reading an interview with the head of Toyota who was at BMW for some work on the shared B58, and he said that BMW were in general investing a lot in reliability, citing the S55 as an example.
