Virtual Debit Card
Discussion
Just created a virtual debit card on my UK bank normal current account.
Tried to use it for a cloud computing subscription but it rejected it.
There is so much noise when googling (50% only credit cards (physical), 50% say virtual debit cards are fine)
Does anyone have a definitive answer?

What's wrong with an actual debit card?
The banks seem to be pushing virtual ones instead of physical for online use. I guess it gives the option to block online transactions from your physical card if you want, meaning if it’s stolen it can only really be used for a limited number of contactless transactions. Also, Amex have launched a virtual credit card which has a rotating CV2 number. That’s presumably far more secure than the fixed one on the physical card. (In saying that, my daughter’s Rooster prepay Visa also has a rotating CV2, only time I’ve seen that on a physical card)alangla said:

That's an Enigma Machine feature!I'll stick with plastic, even if the banks have to make it and use a stamp to post it to me. Maybe that's why they're pushing virtual cards - saves money.

There is that: virtual card plus phone pay technology of your choice and you can make both in-person and remote transactions without a real card.I'll stick with plastic, even if the banks have to make it and use a stamp to post it to me. Maybe that's why they're pushing virtual cards - saves money.
I notice that if you want a physical debit card from Klarna you need to pay for it, the virtual one is free. PayPal will send you a free one (from Germany!) though.
