How to stop spam texts?
Discussion
All you can do is to forward to 7726 and block.
Most spam originates from overseas so Ofcom are powerless to act.
Don't always think they are specifically targeting you. You number might be 07123 456789, and I as the spammer will send out texts in blocks ranging from 07123 000000 to 07123 450000. Eventually I will reach a block that will contain your number.

I had a spam text a few month back which was basically "Hello Dad, this is my new number" (for reference, I do not have any children).
As I was slightly "refreshed" at the time, I replied "Oh christ, why the f
k are you changing numbers again - have you been arrested again?"
I was most disappointed to not get any further replies.

I get loads from Eon Next.
The utter cretins have, against my explicit instructions, used my personal mobile number for contact regarding 21 business accounts.
So I get calls and messages regarding meter readings, paying our bills and smart meter fitments for 21 accounts. Also, due to some historic billing issues, they have passed my personal number to about a dozen debt collectors, for debt that is not owed.
I have blocked literally hundreds of numbers. They just use different ones. And auto-diallers. If I DO answer and AM connected I get to speak to someone in a minor South African country who has the IQ of an amoeba.
They contact me seven days per week, 365 days per year.

Surely, that should be seven days per week, 52 weeks per year? The utter cretins have, against my explicit instructions, used my personal mobile number for contact regarding 21 business accounts.

I got a text from my GP asking me to book a blood test .
The text said it did not support replies.
I called my GP and said I had got a text asking me to book the test and they replied that series of these had gone out and we're not valid . I did not need a blood test.
A week or so later I got a reminder to book.
I called the GP again and they disclosed that a data breach had occurred and they had not sent the text .
I haven't even asked the next set of questions, there is nothing on the GP website.

Was that anything to do with that ransomware/hack the NHS suffered a few years ago possibly? The text said it did not support replies.
