Just seen the first episode of this. We have Wareing, Galetti and some random geezer but for me it's lost a bit of spice (no pun intended) and enthusiasm without Torode and Wallace. Is it a bit like Top Gear after the proper presenters left?

Very probably, but that doesn't make him a presenter, just another chef to add to the other two chefs!

And why does the fourth chef sit in a room somewhere else with headphones? I thought that was a Covid thing.

Clearly, you've never watched a previous series or, in fact, this episode properly.

The Chef (in this case, the Winner from 2016, so in no way a "random") sits separately so he can comment on how the contestant is getting on with the challenge they've set, but obviously without giving away clues.

Have you never watched BBC Saturday Kitchen? He's the lead presenter on that (and has been for years), plus also presents C4's Food unwrapped.
He most definitely IS a presenter!

Ah, the wonders of pontification! I've watched most of the previous series over many years. I think on this episode though my interest faded halfway.

Nope. Seems to be 10.00 - 11.30am which isn't when I watch TV. (I watch Masterchef for entertainment not cooking techniques)

At least it was better than those people trying to climb a mountain in NZ!

Perhaps they should have asked the Spanish chef to make a chicken cacciatore when he said he didn't know hunters chicken?
