Is it just me or is this one of the best Bond films of the “modern “ era ?
I find myself returning to it regularly.

Are you talking about the one with Daniel Craig or David Niven?

Sorry completely at a tangent.
I watched “A matter of life and death” with David Niven, during the week. What a brilliant film that is!

Everyone should watch the David Niven film at least once.

I actually prefer it. Utterly daft, barely hangs together, but a lot more fun.

The Niven version has the highest concentration of beautiful women of any film ever made.

Also it confuses the smart arses who say "how many actors have played Bond" thinking you'll forget Lazenby, but they've not accounted for Casino Royale at all.

I think the phrase “modern era” might offer a clue…

For some people here, anything post 1960 seems to be modern wink

Tbh I keep forgetting Timothy Dalton. Arguably the worst portrayal of Bond ever.

I bet they don't remember Barry Nelson either. And another half-dozen or so in radio adaptations.

You will get slaughtered for that. Yonks back on a different thread I referred to him as Dullard Bond. I was very surprised how many people who replied must like watching dullards

This could be in the ‘tenuous links to famous people’ but my wife got to visit the casino set when they were filming. (Think it was in Prague).

Briefly spoke to the Asian lady at the table if you can picture her and was stood a few feet away when they filmed a couple of lines between Bond and Le Chifre. Unfortunately she can’t remember said lines so we have no idea which scene she can say she ‘was there’ (could have been deleted lines for all we know)

Even had she not been there I agree with OP that this is one of the best.

I must watch it again as I thought it was pony. Perhaps a fresh watch might change my perspective.

I don't think he was a great Bond, but he got some OK films. Brian an was a better Bond but hot some terrible films.

But I'm a heretic; I liked Rog best.
