Hi All,

Im looking at buying a 2020 Cayenne Hybrid/Macan S as a daily, im testing a Cayenne that's priced well at a franchised but not Porsche dealer. Warranty is available coving up to the cost of the car (just need to confirm labour rate.) What's worrying me is the servicing on these from Porsche seems to be every 20k miles or 1 year which seems a bit high. The car im looking at is at 70k miles with servicing at 17k, 37k, 56k, 70k

Should the worst happen there is a warranty but just wanted to hear peoples thoughts

Cheers,

Dan

It appears to have been serviced as per manufacturers guidelines so it's hard to criticise really. As car enthusiasts we like to see more regular servicing than every 20k miles but when you consider the type of car here being a Cayenne/ Macan, they aren't really enthusiast cars so it's reasonable to expect that (at best) the owner will follow the manufacturers guidelines, which probably means they waited till the notification came up on the dash and sorted it.

I'd want it to have a full service, not just oil and filter, before I bought it, as if it is 1 year/20k its usually as to what comes first so should be at least yearly.
I'd want to see the wording of the warranty and confirmation in writing from the garage that the car would be covered under it.

Good luck

Macan is 2yrs/20k miles.

When we bought ours used from an OPC there was a service missing.

I was about to walk but salesman discovered it had been done, just not in the service book or computer system. He got a copy invoice from the relevant OPC and I kept this with the service book.

As it turns out the approved used Porsche had a zillion post sale issues, all subsequently fixed under warranty, but we'd had enough. And also enough of a large-ish SUV pretending to be a sportscar. Went back to BMW number 11. Perfect.

My 981 Cayman on the other hand has had no issues in over 10yrs 60k miles.

Not sure on your budget but this was a customer of mines car....he traded it into this garage.

I can basically guarantee it is about the best in the uk. He never took it out if rain was even on the forecast. No one has ever sat in the back. Still under extended Porsche warranty and he put 4 new N rated tyres on just before trading it in so the new owner wouldn’t have old tyres.

Not many people like that still about. Bit of a trip for you but what a car.

The problem is that I don't think you can get a new car serviced at shorter intervals (for example if you want an oil change every year or every 10,000 miles). The main dealer will refuse as it isn't following the schedule, and if you go to an independent you risk invalidating your warranty.

The manafacturers are clear that the 20,000 mile / 2 year service is the best for the car and don't want you to deviate from this.

I would not worry too much, quality modern lubricants will last that long and although its not ideal you cant do a lot more really.
