I have a 2015 S80 and a 2016 XC70

The sat navs need updating as i put in a post code of a hotel in Portsmouth this week and it didn't allow it, or the road, so clearly out of date

Question is how do I get them updated?

Cheers in advance

Get your googling fingers out.

No idea if any are yours obviously, if not look elsewhere for "sat nav map updates" difficult to work that out I know. wink

I asked you guys....then did some googling..... I have just bought a thumb drive, will arrive tomorrow, will try to down load it, and then plug into car. The net claims it could take 15 mins to 3 hours, so will try tomorrow.

Many thanks for the reply.

I shall post if it works.

To be honest the Volvo sat nav is crap at loading any thing, if it is there it should work.

cheers

I have had a v50 & v40 updated through one or other of the ones I posted (can't remember which) and the v50 (2011) was a nightmare and took several hours, the car had to be plugged into my charger or would have needed to be running the whole time. The v40 (2015) was a doddle and took under 1 hour.

Good luck.

For an update, I down loaded the maps for western Europe to a usb stick, and owing to our crap down load speeds took 7 hours!

I tried to load it into the car, and it went to about 3/4 then rejected it saying files were corrupt.

So visited my son who wiped the stick clear and tried again to down load using his computer ( newer and in a decent area for computers) this time it took and hour and 20 mins to down load, I then plugged into our XC70 and it continued form where it refused to go past last time.

It appears to have worked!!! Maps look to be updated, now same stick plugged into the wife's S80 so hopefully will update her car as well.

Free to do so for these Maps both cars have 2014-2016 system for lifetime Map upgrades via the Volvo website, so pleased with that.

Just a shame the loading an address/postcode code is so fiddly on these cars, I hope the newer ones are a better design.

Thanks for the suggestions above smile

Good to hear you've sorted it.

Unfortunately the later (SPA) interface is a step backward. Although screen layout is a QWERTY keyboard, I find it harder to enter than the old scroll wheel system. Usually with the current Volvo I use the phone app to find locations, then transfer them to the car.

Also with the older system you could add PocketGPS World speed camera locations onto the Sat Nav database.
