There's a new series of fifth gear starts tonight. It's now an hour long, and tonight's show pits the Exige against 911!! Hope they don't start going on about GT ability/luggage/practicality etc, or there's no point in the comparison. Should be just about the driving.

Shocked to see it lose to the 911 if only by a few fractions of a second.

I'm pure Porker through and through......

But even i was shocked at tonights result !!!

The 997S is an unbelievable alrounder, but when they put put it up against that Lotus, i was shouting foul play, as i thought it would be slaughter !!

Power to weight alone should have been enough, let alone half the weight going round the corners ???

Can perfectly understand your anger. You buy a car with no creature comforts whatsoever...wind your own windows, sweat in hot weather, struggle to fit in a gym bag, crawl in through a small hole...I could go on...All because of how fast it goes - and get beaten by a heavy, german, comfy, luxury vehicle with cup holders. Gutting. Maybe VBH lost her driving ability between driving one car and the next. What do you think?

There are a few more driver aids on the 997 - might well be faster than the more twitchy exige with an average driver. I would like to see Tiff in the 240r. I have watched an elise sport 190 with a capable driver p*ss all over a porsche GT2 on a twisty track.

To be fair VBH seems to be able to handle the cars nicely and was driving both cars to the best of her ability, just a surprising outcome!

When Autocar did their "Best Drivers Car 2005" article recently they also found the 911 S beat the 240R round the track if I remember rightly.
