Ryanair/Easyjet cabin bag recommendations
Discussion
Make sure your backpack (if you re taking one) is compliant as well with the Ryanair size requirements.
If you re unsure and have an airport close to you, they usually have sizers at checkin.
Any case that isn t expandable (or you don t use the expanding feature) and meets the size requirements should be good

Ryanair has the smaller dimensions of the two: 40x30x20cm.
If you don't want to ever be challenged then try:

or

Personally, I find that if aren't too obvious you'll get away with something a little bigger, but a soft bag is the way to go in case you need to squash it into a baggage checker.

I was in Dublin last week and it cost me £75 each way because I had a cabin bag which was 3mm too deep. Height and width were fine. They have subtly smaller allowance than the likes of Easy Jet or any other airline I've ever flown with.
Apparently they don't fit in the lockers, which is a lie, as both ways I took the yellow tag off on the jetway, walked past the fella I was supposed to hand it to, and put it in the overhead locker - so the only casualty was my bank balance, which I'm less concerned about that being the only person waiting on the carousel to come round with it.
This is the case in question, it's been all over Europe in overhead lockers but the little zip bit on the front was what they wanted £150 for.

What annoys me more is the people with clearly larger bags walking past me while they removed me of my money.
The employees on the gate earn £1.50 for each person they stop according to my RyanAir pilot friend who advised me to always rip off the tag and take it on anyway.

Eastpak Transverz S. I've just retired my 10 year old one as the wheel bearings were absolutely shot, and bought a new (which comes with a TSA lock which the old one didn't have). Hard back but soft front so squishable, meaning it should ok for Ryanair despite being 3cm thicker than the measurements given above. I fly Easyjet and KLM regularly with it. https://eu.eastpak.com/en-gb/products/tranverz-s-e... (way cheaper from various other online stores though)
The wheels look to be the same as roller blades use so I'm going to see if I can drive the axle/pin out and see if the local skate shop has something that would fit.

Sorry, just realised that you want overheard luggage. Ryanair is still the meanest of the two, at 55 x 40 x 20cm.
What's the budget? These look cool whenever I see people travelling with them - https://floyd.one/products/floyd-junior?_gl=1*17h6...

Thank you to everyone for input.
As f
king cool as the expensive one linked above is - I m not spending that. I do really really want one now though.
Rock seems to be pretty reasonable- and the difference in allowed sizes is apparent on their pages.
Just need to pick a style.
Simply save yourself £30 by not putting a bag in the hold, and instead buying a bag for £300 you can take into the cabin for free.As f

Sounds like a Viz top tip.

It s a pain in the arse waiting at baggage reclaim for a full size bag that s got almost nothing in it.
True.A couple of years ago we bought a couple of wheely cabin bags for about £20 a pop off Amazon to use on an internal flight. However, they will not be good enough for most on PH !

Completely depends how often you're travelling, if it's a couple of times a year get something cheap it'll be fine. If you're travelling more often something more expensive is probably more convenient an will last longer. I spent about £100 on my Eastpak and it's survived around 10 years of regular use, including a couple of years of flying almost every week, and I find a wheelie case is way easier when that weekly trip involved a fair bit of walking to and from public transport.Sounds like a Viz top tip.

100% and paying a bit extra for good wheels that will last is worth it every single time.RedWhiteMonkey said:

I have this one. Used it at least 4 times last year, has a good layout with useful pockets for your passport, laptop and wet stuff. Plus a pocket facing your back for more security. Would recommend. Plus it cost peanuts.

My Mrs and I bought these. They unzip, like a suitcase, so easier to pack, have a compartment for wallet, keys etc and several compartments. They have 4 sturdy straps to compress them. Used for easyJet flights 8 times a year. 2 years old now and proving sturdy and resilient.
No wheels as they take up valuable space. Used for warmer clones so shorts,T-shirts, flip flops, socks etc.
