We’ve had quite a few McLarens through lately for CarPlay installs (Including several PH members that have directed me to post directly to help others!) so thought I’d stick this up here in case it helps someone considering it!

The stock Iris system’s decent but day to day it’s just nicer having proper IOS / AA Navigation and music built in

Entirely integrated into the factory screen and controls, nothing visible or aftermarket looking. You wouldn’t know it wasn’t OEM

All of this is completed without the use of KKS / MSE or other Chinese originating products - being UK based support is available as long as we're awake!

Makes the car feel a lot newer for a pretty small change!

Wanting to respect the rules of posting while also providing open and honest solutions to McL owners if you'd like to see work we've completed its over on our instagram 12KRetrofits !

Any questions feel free to ask or PM me directly!

Is there a "decent" option for making the Artura and 750S wireless Carplay as opposed to wired only from factory that you offer? Thanks

Currently to the best of my knowledge, even McLaren don’t acknowledge any wireless adapters as they couldn’t get anything to work reliably with the UI system unfortunately!

I have a working wireless CarPlay adaptor in my Artura - it did take me trying a few before I found one that works. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be on Amazon any more. Having said that, it does work flawlessly and consistently.

I had carplay fitted in my 650S by Thorney, great job, works well.
Bit of fiddling to get phone audio and music audio levels right.
Works great - wireless too

Dan @12kRetrofits did mine today at home - pretty sure he'll go anywhere to do it biggrin. Highly recommended.

Works well and is wireless.

The one I bought on Amazon is no longer available, and it isn't branded at all (no surprise!). But it works flawlessly and was pretty cheap. Having said that, I did try about 5 before I found one that worked. You could just order a few off Amazon, try them, and send back the ones you don't want. But it definitely is possible to do it.

This is for the Artura.

The one that I and br_d use in our 750s, discussed in the thread I linked above, works very well and is still available: https://carlinkitcarplay.com/products/carlinkit-tb...

Morning, I have been waiting for MCL to replace my Iris 1 with an Iris 2 as the screen started blanking out/going grey/turning on and off... still waiting.. does this kit and installation need the Iris 2 screen and everything behind it to work or does it completely replace the system. I take it that I don't lose the original functionality and controls? Sorry for all the questions but I'd like my car back by spring and at this rate it won't be...

No problem at all Dan - I know you said it would be quick to connect without any input from me but I was slightly worried about that bit…

It’s been absolutely perfect and connects basically instantly!

Unfortunately it does require the Iris 2 system, I haven’t been able to get ahold of an Iris 1 to be able to develop a solution for them!
