991.2 GT3 - noise limits
Discussion
I'm hoping that others on here have some real world experience of the 991.2 gt3 at Bedford autodrome. I'm looking at booking a trackday there in the near future but am wondering what the car is going to be like in respect of the noise limits there. Anyone on here done one before there? How were the drive by tests?
I took it to Snetterton last year for an evening and was fine but was told it was borderline on the drivebys. Am running the stock switchable silencer and I left it in quiet at Snetterton, so the valves will be opening past 5,000 rpm.

I’ve got a 991.2 GT3 with standard exhaust. Only been to Bedford once in it….there’s definitely one section where you will have problems with the noise limits. From memory it is only one part of the track as you accelerate out of a corner but I think it’s a relatively short piece of the track before you enter another corner.
I used to have issues in my 981 CGTS at Bedford. I appreciate they're different engines, but they can't be too far apart noise wise.
There are two sensors that cause issues - the first is between the T1 hairpin and the T2/T3 chicane, and the second one is located on the little straight section before the very tight hairpin left around the back of the pit garage. A little short shift as you go past these and you should be fine.
For the static test, they ask for about 75% of the car's redline I think (rounding this down also helps lol), so just make sure sport mode and exhaust is off and also ease down the gas gently if it pops and bangs on the overrun.
Enjoy
That GT3 will tear up a fast open track like Bedford!

I've done Silverstone, Anglesey and Donnington so far with absolutely no issues, assume Bedford has lower noise limits then ? I'd assumed that with a standard exhaust I had no issues !

Bedford is lower than most tracks - 101db static and 87.5 on the drive by. I know it will be fine on the static with the limiter at 5k, but the drive by is always tricky and I've been black flagged before with other cars (lotuses). My 718 GT4 was fine, but the GT3 is a fair bit louder, particularly high in the rev range. Hence my original question. It sounds from other posts that the usual meter after the hairpin after the pit straight, is the only real problem. I have managed there before with my previous loud cars by short shifting.
