As above it's only been happening recently, about three weeks now. The music plays normally, but I get no time bar on the widescreen Nav. The artist name appears OK but it always says 'unknown album' and it always says 1/50 as well but that doesn't change when the next song comes on.

I've tried a soft reset on the iDrive (on/off button for 30 seconds), unpaired and re-paired my phone, hard closed the app on my phone, restarted my phone (Google Pixel 8 Pro if it matters) but none of this has fixed it. It's a 2015 F36 428i GC. Someone on Reddit suggested changing the Bluetooth streaming mode within developer options on the phone but having tried version 1.3 where I got no music at all and 1.4 where it didn't change anything I put it back to the default 1.5. Any ideas or a solution?

I guess no one can help then, because it's now WORSE than it was before.

I removed the phone and forgot the car on the phone and reconnected as a new device. Now the music plays, but everything it unknown. Unknown artist, unknown track, unknown album and still no time bar at the bottom. I connected my Sons phone briefly and played Spotify and that worked perfectly. Lord only knows what the problem is!

Can't really help because I use Youtube Music and no issues. I have had previous issues with Spotify but nothing related to the iDrive, my only thought is have you tried deleting and reinstalling the Spotify app?

I have. It seemed to make it worse! I've changed the AVC Bluetooth mode from 1.5 to 1.4 and it's now back to the previous mode so at least I have some information again, just unknown album, 1/50 and no time bar.
