As it is named after Adolf Adi Dassler and "i" is pronouced "e" in Germany the correct way from the two options is Ad-e-das.

I'm not great on the whole proper phonetic pronunciation thing but a Brit would hear a German say AH-dee-dahs

PS. I'm married to a German, live in Germany and also speak German.

According to the school playground it is an acronym in both directions:

After Dinner I Did A st

Soon After Dinner I Did Another

As a Brit, I'd say "ah di dass", which I think is a pretty natural anglification of the German. Anyone who says "ah DEE dass" needs a slap ... unless they're Welsh, as stressing that penultimate syllable would be the natural cymrufication.

My 10 year old pronounces it "Daddy's arse, hahahaha, arse, get it?"

As a Brit I tend to say "Por-Shh" instead of "Porshh-Uh" even know I know that's how our German friends pronounce it (the proper way). Same goes for Nike. Rrather than how it should be said "Nike-Ee" It just feels wrong to use the proper native pronunciations with my Northern English tongue.

But Adidas, I've only heard someone say "A-De-Das" once and they got such a roasting they've never said it that way again.
