Lift on a 992 Turbo S with PASM -10mm Suspension
Discussion
Hi all, currently searching for a 992 Turbo S. There is one available in my perfect spec here: https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch...
However, the car does not have lift and has the -10mm suspension. Is this likely to be a problem in multi storey car parks etc?
I had lift on my 991 GT3 which was essential but I know the turbo bumper at the front doesn't sit as low. Just looking for some real world ownership experiences.
Thanks,
Andrew

I've specked lift on my Turbo S but I've been thinking of deleting it because the front isn't that low, however -10mm on your car could be risky IMOHowever, the car does not have lift and has the -10mm suspension. Is this likely to be a problem in multi storey car parks etc?

I have a 992 GTS with -10mm suspension. I have Front Axle Lift and it is brilliant and saved me many times. I was in a different area once and didn't think to put lift on whilst going up a ramp (was distracted as was on a call), it scraped slightly but luckily no damage as it was just the rubber piece under the front splitter.
I have lift on a boggo 992.1 C2S on standard PSM (i.e. non-drop). It's true that I don't use it often, but there are some very aggressive speedbumps near me which I can catch the fins in front of the front wheels (which I know isn't that bad) but very happy to be able to lift the nose and not wince to the sound of something grinding.
If I had a more aggressive/expensive setup, I'd be even more keen to have the ability to lift on the odd occasion it were needed.

I’ll take the other side - I wouldn’t worry about no lift unless there’s a particular problem like a very steep drive. I have a T with the sports front apron and no lift and it’s never been a problem, I live in a rural area with bad roads but it’s also been in various multi storeys, over speed bumps and pillows without issue.
I had a 992.2 4wd GTS CAB Last year with no lift, it used to catch the front lip all the time, had to buy a new front Lip when it went back in.
My 2WD GTS Hybrid does not have lift and it never catches.
992.1 Turbo S had the -10mm no FAL and would catch a lot, this new 992.2 Turbo S has the front under body active aero flaps from the 918/ 992RS, have gone for -10mm so added FAL.

I have a turbo s with no lift.
In the USA ( rennlist ) they are obsessed with lift but I never have an issue - but I am not -10mm!
Price wise for the miles it looks toppy. I have a turbo s cab with similar miles. I paid a lot less than that 14 months ago. Mine is mid 2021 and that is 2020. I suspect they have had it for a while as the text description is 4000 miles less.
It was not from Porsche but did have warranty remainder which I then extended for 3 years for £2850.
It has had nil issues.

I think the lift needs are very dependent on your last 500 yards of driving home. My 997.2 is 35mm lower and has less clearance than the 991.1 GT3 I ran for 7 years, I had lift on the 991.1 and used it when I first had the car, I think I used it (probably unnecessarily) 2-3 times in the last 5 years of ownership
If you are familiar with driving low cars then I see lift as 'necessary for resale' like the dealers and internet tells us but not as essential as believed. I am glad I didn't have the option on my 997.2 as it means I can just drive the car with care when needed and not have extra weight, extra things to go wrong and another button I don't use.

am I correct in thinking that they run a stiffer spring rate for the -10mm ?
Correct and the rear helper springs for the -10mm. I presume it will be like on the 992.1 ones with -10mm as in a slightly firmed ride but not as bad as the 992.1 GTS was with -10mm. From those that i have spoken with that have driven this new 992.2 tts one they have commented just how well it rides with the new suspension tech in particular how flat it rides in fast corners, along with the -10mm felt fine. I did just under 40k miles in 2 x 992.1 TTS both had the -10mm once the PSis were lowered from the stock settings they drove fine on road and track.Edited by APOLO1 on Friday 23 January 09:21
I have a 992.1 4GTS with FAL, with -10 suspension. Definitely needed where I live in the Surrey Hills and with Surrey Highways installing 20mph humps on the local A Roads leading into Guildford. Yes, the ride is firm but quite tolerable and gives a great ride on good surfaces. With speed humps spreading like a rash in the UK, I will always spec my future purchases with FAL. Its fast becoming a must have option along with average cruise control, which has helped me avoid quite a number of speeding tickets!
