Any Exige owners had their car back to dealer for creaking roof? I belive there is a "moidification" the dealer can do to stop it creaking. Was wondering if anyone knew what this entailed?

Cheers

I picked my car up on Saturday and it creaks badly at the offside rear. The Dealer did warn me that it would probably creak.

Dunno what the mod is but I was going to try tightening/refitting but don't have the special tool...

I guess it will get sorted next week at A/S service.

Cheers,
Ali

Special tool? I thought it was just an allen key, the largest one in the toolkit in the boot?

They put larger rubber mounts in it which can do the trick. Mine still creaks occasionally though. Its just natures way of telling you to get a Stage 2 Exhaust.

^^what he said^^

I've just put the hardtop on my 111r and even after 2 days it's started creaking. Previously I tried to fix it my either reseating the roof or tightening the bolts, but if there is anything else, I too would be interested in hearing about it.

Isn't the roof tool a Torx driver rather than an Allen key? It has a star-shaped bit.

Mine had a mod for this at B&C..hope this makes sense... where the U shape pieces go into the plastic retainers, they cut out a section of the bodywork behind this and then put velcro on the U..its then a tighter fit. Since it was done, mine hasnt creaked at all, and thats after taking it off and putting back on a few times..

It's the car telling you that you should leave the hardtop in the garage and take it out for another topless session in the countryside

my dealer fixed the creak by simply lubing the seals with grease. it did work as well.
as for the roof tool, i just use a 3 pound screwdriver with removeable tips. much easier than the allen key thing

except the wd40 dries out the rubber - best off using rubber and nylon lubricant. (in a yellow can from halfrauds)
